These big blue apes are weak against fire, so it's best to equip Sheba with the Mysterious Card item to give her the fire psynergy Juggle. Have Jenna use Flare and Fume and Felix use physical attacks or heal if HP gets low.

Note: I recommend you fight the Star Magician after Isaac joins your party.
When you fight the Star Magician, he will have 4 Star Mines floating around him. Each turn, a Star Mine will cast a shield around Star Magician, strong enough to reduce damage of Attacks and Psynergy to small amounts. Your Djinn is the key defeating this monster.
If you want to do full damage on Star Magician, you must take out all his Star Mines first. The Star Mines may be easy to take out (just do around 300 damage on them), but since the Star Magician can act 3 times in a single turn, he can revive his Star Mines, continuing his shield protection.
The key in destroying his Star Mines and injuring him with full damage is your summons. It's best to have all your Djinn on Standby and make sure you have strong summons such as Eclipse, or Judgement; these two will help. Unleash your strongest summons to wipe out most Star Mines in a single strike, then do full damage on Star Magician! I have to estimate that his HP is around 8000, and Judgement can do around 1500 damage on him.
Plus, the reason why it's best to have all 8 party members with Standby Djinn is so that whenever someone uses up all their Djinn, you can switch them with someone else who hasn't used their djinn yet.
Don't forget!! Star Magician can attack too, and he has powerful attacks that can do over 200 to 300 damage to multiple targets, so be careful! It's best to have healers who can heal multiple allies at once like Mia or Jenna. It's also best to have Mist Potions with someone who has high agility, so they can be the first to act and use a Mist Potion, which heals 300 HP to every party member.
Make sure to keep blasting away Star Magician's Star Mines, so you can do direct damage. Keep in mind that Star Magician heals over 300 HP every turn.

He is one boss you really need to take seriously. There is one thing that REALLY makes him tought to beat.
Not only does he have over 13000 HP, he has the ability to take your djinn and summon them against you! Once he summoned Catastrophe on me!! His attack is Djinn Stun which he can automatically put your Djinn on Standby and then unleash a summon.
It's best to have all djinn on standby so you can summon them first. Valukar will already be pummeled, so just try to defeat with your psynergy. If he ever uses Djinn Stun and doesn't use a summon, use the summon yourself quickly! Valukar's best move is his downfall; in my opinion, it's his way of helping you! Try to take advantage of his Djinn Stun and you'll do fine!
